This is a very commonly asked question. You’re all ready to start working out and you want to make sure that you are doing the best thing to get the best results you can. So which do you do? Cardio or weights? Well, I have the answer for you. It’s WEIGHTS, just kidding (kind of)… Unfourtantley its a bit more complicated than that…
You’re asking the wrong question
This is the most important question to keep in mind whenever you hear ANYTHING about fitness, any article or study you see about working out.
“What are you trying to do?”
“What are you trying to do?”, It is the only thing you should think before attempting to answer any question fitness related. “Which shoulder exercise is best for me?” Well, what are you trying to do? Gain strength? Be explosive? Lose weight? Rehab your torn labrum? The answer doesn’t matter unless you ask the question first! I would prescribe completely different exercises for each one of those things.
Back to our original question, what is better? Cardio or weights? Well, I think you know what’s coming.. “what are you trying to do?” Lose weight, get faster, rehab an injury? TOTALLY different answers for each one of those. So next time someone comes along spouting what the “best” exercise or diet is, just ask them, “best for what?” and watch their logic fall in like the house of cards it is.
Weights are totally better though…
